"I Jesus have sent Mine angel to testify unto you these thimgs in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. (v.17) And the Spirit and the bride say Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."
Praise God for the Church ! We can read of it's various conditions in Rev.1-3 (inclusive). This is both historical and relevant, because any Church can be in any of those conditions, at any given time. Let us ponder on this, as we realise that only the Church of Philadelphia was commended ! An evidence of true relationship with God is a passion for souls to be saved.
The 'root' and the 'offspring ' is addressed to the Jewish people, because Jesus Is King of the Jews. The Davidic covenant pointed to Him. The 'Morning star' is not the name of a communist newspaper ! but it tells of Christ's appearing for the Church before the great tribulation, as this star is always brightly appearing before the darkest part of the night, which is before the dawn; ( the millenium of Divine Rule on earth).'Come Lord Jesus' a Christian chorus, sung a few years ago, sums up the anticipation and desire of all those whose hearts have surrendered to his Lordship. The Holy Spirit issaying 'Come ' and the Church;(the Bride) is also. The offer of salvation is open to all, irrespective of status, wealth, power, education, rank or intellect.
