Word for the Week...28 NOV ---4 DEC / 2005

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

We need to bear in mind the following important points...

[1] Divine Inspiration makes the Bible uniquely the Word of God, not merely a book containing the Word of God.

[2] This attribute makes the Bible different from ANY OTHER BOOK, sacred or secular.

[3] As such, the Bible has all Authority in being God's Inspired Word to mankind for all time.

[4] The word 'Inspired' means 'God-Breathed', and The Bible has this unchanging quality objectively  inherent in it. This remains the case whether man believes it or not !

[5] As God- Breathed (Theopneustos-Gk.), it is both Inerrant and Fully Authoritative, since God produced it and actual error is inconsistent with God.

[6] The whole of Scripture is useful for doctrine... (teaching)...reproof...(censure of wrong and sin)...correction...(setting aright or reformation)...instruction in righteousness...(disciplinary education)...both God's inherent righteousness and the righteousness He requires of His own.

[7] This view of the full Inspiration of the Bible is our fortress against all error and apostacy, in life and doctrine..as long as mankind exists.

[8] This Word of God is like..A FIRE...(Jeremiah 23:29).                                                           ..                 A HAMMER...(Jeremiah 23:29)                                                                                           A LAMP...(Psalms 119:105)                                                                                                         A MIRROR ...(James 1:23)                                                                                                                           MILK...(1 Peter 2:2)                                                                                                                                        A ROD...(Rev.11:1-2)                                                                                                                                      A SEED...(1 Peter 1 23)                                                                                                                                A SWORD...(Heb.4:12)                                                                                                                  WATER...(Eph.5:26)                                                                                                                           GOLD...(Psalms 19:7-10)                                                                                                               HONEY...(Psalm 19:10)                                                                                                                              AN OX-GOAD...(Ecc.12:11)                                                                                                                           A NAIL...(Ecc.12:11                                                                                                                                   BREAD...(MATT.4:4)                                                                                                                                      A PEARL...
